FeatureAdditional Information
Expert search

Expert Search has been released. For more information, see the Release Notes(https://clinicaltrials.gov/about-site/release-notes#20241022). Future updates to Expert Search are planned to support using classic ClinicalTrials.gov search URL parameters.

Map view in Search Results

The Map view in search results displayed a world map with the number of studies matching a user's search criteria overlaid on the major geographic areas of each continent. Users could select a geographic area to see the countries in that region, and the studies within a specific country or state/province within some countries.

While a map view is currently not available on ClinicalTrials.gov, a list of Countries with studies(https://clinicaltrials.gov.#coutries-with-studies) is available below.

Another way to get this information is to specify different location parameters in the Location field in the default search tool. See the Detailed guide to searching for clinical studies(https://clinicaltrials.gov/find-studies/how-to-search#a3) and Special Instructions for using search filters(https://clinicaltrials.gov/find-studies/how-to-search#a4) sections of the How to Search for Clinical Studies(https://clinicaltrials.gov/find-studies/how-to-search) page.

See Studies on Map

This offered the same functionality as the map view in search results, but the numbers displayed all clinical studies within a geographic region and/or country/state.

See the list of Countries with studies(https://clinicaltrials.gov.#coutries-with-studies) is available below.

See Studies by Topic

This feature provided a categorized list of clinical studies organized by conditions, rare diseases, drug interventions, dietary supplements, sponsors/collaborators and location based on search criteria.

Although this view is currently unavailable on the modern site, users seeking study record data about specific topics can use the Condition/disease, Intervention/treatment, Other terms, Sponsor and/or Collaborator and Location fields available in the search tool. See Detailed guide to searching for clinical studies(https://clinicaltrials.gov/find-studies/how-to-search#a3) and Special Instructions for using certain search filters(https://clinicaltrials.gov/find-studies/how-to-search#a4) on the How to Search for Clinical Studies(https://clinicaltrials.gov/find-studies/how-to-search) page for more information.

Search Details

This feature provided terms related to their initial search criteria to help narrow the list of search results.

Although related terms are not currently listed, users can refine their search results by adding additional search filters in the Focus your search menu(https://clinicaltrials.gov/find-studies/how-to-use-search-results#focus-search).

The following list of regions can be expanded to see individual countries. Each country name links to a list of search results for all the clinical studies registered there. The total number of studies is provided at the top of the search results list when you click any individual country.

Results can be narrowed further by applying additional filters in the Focus your search menu(https://clinicaltrials.gov/find-studies/how-to-use-search-results#focus-search).
