  • Modernized PRS Updates: With the latest release of the Modernized PRS, multiple improvements and fixes have been made in response to user feedback.   • ClinicalTrials.gov Updates: In the latest release, Expert Search is now available and allows users to do a more focused search for clinical studies using complex search queries. The Expert Search page also stores a chronological list of up to ten successful search queries. In addition, study status is color-coded in the study record and in the search results to help highlight studies that are or will be looking for participants.   • Modernized PRS Updates: With the latest release of the Modernized PRS, several important bug fixes were made in response to user feedback. In addition, improvements were made to the record access list. Short demonstration videos, available on Fast Forward from ClinicalTrials.gov(https://www.nlm.nih.gov/oet/ed/ct/demo_videos.html) are now accessible on the Modernized PRS under the About menu. For more details, please see the Release Notes(https://register.clinicaltrials.gov/prs/beta/public/release-notes-prod).
  • New Demonstration Videos: Two new videos were added to Fast Forward from ClinicalTrials.gov(https://www.nlm.nih.gov/oet/ed/ct/demo_videos.html). These videos show how to use features on the Modernized PRS. More videos are planned for the future.

  • Modernized PRS Updates: With this release, the Modernized PRS is now the primary website for Protocol Registration. When users log into PRS, they will see the modernized Record List. Study records without Results, Delayed Results, or Study Documents, will open in the Modernized PRS. Users will be redirected to the Classic PRS to manage accounts, upload records, access certain help materials, and open study records with sections still under development. Because study records may look different between the classic and modernized websites, users should use the Classic PRS to review their records and resolve any validation errors or warnings.   • Webinar on the Modernized PRS: Join us on October 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. ET. ClinicalTrials.gov staff will provide an update on the overall modernization effort, highlight features of the Modernized PRS, and share plans for future updates. Register(https://nih.zoomgov.com/webinar/register/WN_VpEMhUEgQBuh5ZSsM4WwZQ#/registration) early and submit your questions in advance. A recording will be made available for those who cannot attend the live event.
  • New Videos Available: Fast Forward from ClinicalTrials.gov(https://www.nlm.nih.gov/oet/ed/ct/demo_videos.html) is a series of short videos describing how to complete tasks on the modernized ClinicalTrials.gov and in the modernized Protocol Registration and Results System (PRS). The newest videos show PRS users how to navigate between the Modernized and Classic PRS and how to filter the modernized Record List for records with problems.

  • PRS Beta Updates: With this release to PRS Test, PRS Beta is now the Modernized PRS. When users log into PRS Test, they will see the modernized Record List page. Study records, except those with sections still under development in the modernized website, will open in the Modernized PRS. Study records with Results, Delayed Results, or Study Documents will open in the classic PRS. Users are encouraged to try out the Modernized PRS in the PRS Test system. On August 28, 2024, the Modernized PRS will become the primary website for Protocol Registration.   • ClinicalTrials.gov Updates: In the latest release, the Modernization Transition Top Questions(https://clinicaltrials.gov/about-site/modernization-top-questions) document has been updated and also converted to a webpage, and the Search Results can now be sorted by relevance or by the newest study records. Please read the latest Release Notes(https://clinicaltrials.gov/about-site/release-notes#20240722) to learn more.
  • Train-the-Trainer Materials: The Train-the-Trainer education webpage(https://www.nlm.nih.gov/oet/ed/ct/prs_ttt/index.html) has been updated with new materials from the 2024 workshop.

  • A Modern ClinicalTrials.gov Website: Starting today, the classic ClinicalTrials.gov website and its application programming interface (API) are retired and no longer available. The modern ClinicalTrials.gov website includes the most important features, information, and resources that were found on the classic website. In addition, the modern ClinicalTrials.gov is easier to navigate, has improved search functionality, a modern API, and is optimized for mobile devices.   • Video Series Available: Fast Forward from ClinicalTrials.gov(https://www.nlm.nih.gov/oet/ed/ct/demo_videos.html) is a series of short videos answering common questions from users about ClinicalTrials.gov and PRS. The initial videos in the series cover how to search, how to find studies that are looking for participants, and how to find the total number of studies on ClinicalTrials.gov. More videos will be added in future.
  • Study Record Information Displays: Read about how ClinicalTrials.gov displays study record data submitted by study sponsors and investigators when data is not available or not provided. Learn more about how data is being made more transparent in the NLM Technical Bulletin(https://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/techbull/mj24/mj24_Clinical_Trials_Study_Record_Modernization.html).

  • ClinicalTrials.gov Updates: In the latest release, two versions of a study record can be compared in both merged and side-by-side views in the study record history. RIS is now available as a download format, and many of the remaining links to the classic ClinicalTrials.gov pages were replaced with links to pages on the modernized website.   • Updated Information about Modernization Transition Available: The Modernization Transition Top Questions(https://cdn.clinicaltrials.gov/documents/Modernization_Transition_Top_Questions_RELEASE_508.pdf) has been updated with new information about retirement of the classic ClinicalTrials.gov website and additional questions on PRS modernization.

  • ClinicalTrials.gov Updates: In preparation for the retirement of the classic ClinicalTrials.gov, content migration was continued during this release. Trends and Charts on Registered Studies and Constructing Complex Search Queries were added as new pages. In addition, we added a site map, found at the bottom of the page.   • ClinicalTrials.gov Updates: In the latest release, content and resources related to PRS accounts and record reviews have been transferred from the classic ClinicalTrials.gov website and can be found under "Submit Studies" on the modernized website. More instructional content and important updates to the API Migration Guide were also added. Please read the latest Release Notes(https://clinicaltrials.gov/about-site/release-notes#20240319) to learn more.
  • ClinicalTrials.gov API version 2.0: The ClinicalTrials.gov API version 2.0(https://clinicaltrials.gov/data-api/api) differs from the classic API in several important ways. Some of these differences include alignment with other publicly accessible modern APIs and standardization of certain types of data fields. Beginning in April, users may experience brief disruptions in classic API service during a series of planned outages. Classic API users are strongly encouraged to migrate to the new API as soon as possible, as the classic ClinicalTrials.gov API will be retired in June 2024.   • ClinicalTrials.gov Content Migration Plan: As part of Modernization, informational content is being migrated from classic ClinicalTrials.gov to the modernized website. During the migration process, users may notice changes in content structure and organization, but all the essential information will remain available.   • Modernization Progress Report Available: The Report on the ClinicalTrials.gov Modernization Effort, Summary of Progress: 2022-23(https://www.nlm.nih.gov/od/bor/clinicaltrialswg/NLM_BOR_CTG_WG_Modernization_Update_Report_20231023_508.pdf) is now available. This report provides an update on the modernized ClinicalTrials.gov and PRS Beta websites, plans for future modernization activities, the communication strategy, and more.
