Brief Summary:
to asses the age, reasons, oral health status and dental treatment needs of children in their first dental visit.

Detailed Description:

The main aim of this study is to assess parent's awareness about the timing of the first dental visit and to determine the main reason for bringing their children and their overall experience in the first dental visit.

The design of the study is cross sectional study.This study will take place in the clinics of pediatrics dentistry and dental public health department, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University.

We are going to provide each parent or guardian whose children fulfilling the inclusion criteria attending to Department of Pediatrics Dentistry at Cairo University to fulfill questionnaire which include multiple MCQ questions. We will explain to the parents and legal guardians the aim of the study without any guiding to prevent any information bias which may occur. The questionnaire will be given before the treatment and will be collected after it. Any children whose records will include missing information will be excluded from the study.Patients entering the study are those who will meet the criteria for selection.

Primary Outcome Measures :
  1. reasons for the first dental visit. [ Time Frame: 1 year ]
    There are different reasons for the first dental visit these reasons may be due to pain, dental caries, routine dental check-up, retained deciduous tooth, fluoride application, referred by dentist, Referred by medical personnel and Trauma. . Caregiver will be asked to fill a questionnaire include multiple reasons. The parents or Guardian select the most chief complain for coming to the first dental visit. And after selection the most common reason will determine.

  2. dental treatment needs [ Time Frame: 1 year ]
    Caregivers will be asked to fill out a questionnaire that includes multiple options for his dental treatment needs. Parents or guardians will determine the treatment needs they want for their child


Secondary Outcome Measures :
  1. age [ Time Frame: 1 years ]
    Caregiver will be asked to fill a questionnaire include multiple age. The parents or Guardian select the most optimal age for the first dental visit from their point of view .

Study Population

Criteria

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Children with Primary and mixed dentition.
  • Children visiting the dentist for the first time (first dental visit

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Children with systemic diseases or physical and mental problem.
  • Children whose parents refuse participation
