Description

Status—Use this field to specify whether you want to search for studies that are recruiting participants or in other stages.
  • Studies: To search by status of an interventional study (clinical trial) or an observational study use the options listed. Studies that are recruiting participants or not yet recruiting participants appear in green text in ClinicalTrials.gov search results and study records. Statuses that are no longer accepting participants, are completed, or are stopped for some other reason appear in red text. The statuses are:

    Not yet recruiting
    Recruiting
    Enrolling by invitation
    Active, not recruiting
    Suspended
    Terminated
    Completed
    Withdrawn

Note: Studies marked as "Unknown" in brown text have a Recruiting, Not yet recruiting, or Active, not recruiting status that has not been verified on ClinicalTrials.gov by the sponsor of the study or responsible party within the past 2 years.

  • Expanded Access: Use these options to search for information on investigational drugs that are or were available to patients who cannot participate in a clinical trial. If an investigational drug may be available for expanded access, the status will appear in green text in ClinicalTrials.gov search results and study records. If access is no longer available, statuses appear in red text. The statuses are:

    Available for expanded access
No longer available for expanded access
Temporarily not available for expanded access
    Approved for marketing

See Recruitment Status in the glossary for the definitions of each status.
